About the Club:

The Men's Volleyball Club is a competitive sport club at the Ohio State University.  We field two travelling teams, a Division 1 (USAV A-AA) and a Division 2 (BB) team.

Each year  the D1 team will play in 10-12 tournaments.  The tournaments include two home tournaments, two Big Ten Seeding Tournaments, the Big Ten Championships, the MIVA (Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) Regional Championships, and the NIRSA (National Intramural Recreational Sports Association) Championships.  The National tournament is the largest event of the year, and held at a different location around the country. Past host locations include the University of Texas, University of Maryland, Reno, Nevada, Kansas City, Dallas, Salt Lake City and Louisville.  This year they will again be held in Dallas, Texas.

The Division 2 team will play in 8 events each season including the MIVA D2 Regional Championship Tournament, it's seeding events, and our home tournaments.

Our season starts at the beginning of the school year (Autumn Quarter) and ends during the third week of April after Nationals.  Because we are a competitive club, we have try-outs at the beginning of each new academic year.  Those players that do not make the traveling teams are encouraged to continue to come to practice, as oftentimes roster spots become available during the season.

The players that make the club are required to pay annual dues of $300 which helps defray the costs of competitions, traveling, and coaching fees.  The players are also required to participate in fundraisers and other club activities.

 Attendance Policy:

Attendance at practice and fundraising events is mandatory for club members and highly encouraged for practice players.  If you are going to miss a practice or show up late, please let Jed Johnson (secretary) know by 9pm by calling 937-631-3596 (cell phone) or emailing to Johnson.2114@osu.edu.  Every unexcused practice absence will result in extra individual physical activity (sprints, laps, etc.) decided upon by the coach.  Every fundraising absence will also result in extra individual physical activity in addition to a loss in playing time at the next tournament.  Showing up late twice will count as an unexcused absence.  Excused absences are allowed as long as they are submitted in advance to the secretary.  The secretary will take attendance at each practice and fundraising event.
